Very poor customer service from LG Direct Service

I love my LG top-load washer that I have had for 8 years. The customer service I got from LG Direct Service..... not so much. I placed a service call on my LG top-load washer because it was not washing. It was load sensing filling with water and it was spinning the drum and ejecting the water from the drum. It just was not performing the wash cycle. The drum would jitter back and forth and the clothes would not agitate. I was aware that if a tech came out to diagnose the issue it would be a non-refundable $125.00 +tax charge that they apply to the cc that you need to provide ahead of time in order to confirm our appointment. Unlike Sears the diagnostic fee cannot be used for the service if I decided to go ahead with the repairs. The tech came to my house as scheduled very nice polite gentleman put the machine into diagnostic mode to listen to the beeps closed the lid and ran a wash cycle. As I had described the only issue was that the wash portion of the cycle was not working. After putting the washer on spin and successfully spinning and wringing the water out he declared unequivocally that the clutch assembly was shot and needed to be replaced. He stated that he was 100 sure that the clutch assembly was the issue and needed a new one. He roughly quoted about $139.00 for the part and about 1 hour for labor because he would have to do a full tare-down of the machine. I asked for a more concise estimate as I would have to discuss with my wife if it would be worth fixing or just getting a new washer. The tech said he would get back to me with a more accurate quote in a few minutes once he went to his truck and looked up the part on his laptop. The tech called the next day and stated that the part I need is no longer available and that he would not be able to fix the washer so the rest of the service incident would be canceled. I immediately went online and found at least 4 places that had the part I needed in stock. I ordered the part from Sears PartsDirect and paid a $44.00 expedite fee because the laundry was piling up and planned to do the repair myself. In the interim I began to disassemble the washer in preparation for the clutch assemblys arrival. I pulled the tub ring off removed the wash-plate cap removed the wash-plate AKA pulsator assembly agitator plate etc.. The next step was to remove a 38mm nut that holds the clutch assembly to the drum but I could not get it off with an adjustable wrench so I had to purchase a 38mm socket from amazon for $18.00. While I waited for the socket I inspected the hole that wash-plate mounts onto the shade of the clutch and noticed that the hole was completely smooth... that didnt seem right because in my mind how could that possibly agitate back and forth on the clutch shaft if its smooth? I submitted the question to LG support who took over 24 hours to say that they could not give me an answer and would need a technician to determine that. Meanwhile a quick google search verified that indeed there should be ridges/grooves on the inside of the hole to engage the clutch. This is something that the LG tech should have checked and realized immediately that this was the cause of my issue. I ordered the wash-plate LG Part# AGZ72909711 Pulsator Assembly and immediately called LG Direct Service to try and get a refund of my diagnostic fee because the tech completely misdiagnosed the problem. The LG rep said she would have to defer this case to the service manager for approval and that I would be getting a call within 2 days. No call ever came. In the meantime my wash-plate arrived before the 38mm socket or the clutch assembly so I immediately confirmed that there are ridges on the inside of the hole see pics. I installed the wash plate 2 minutes and the washer has been washing perfectly since. I called LS Direct Service again to definitely get a refund for the diagnostic fee. A new rep took a bunch of more information and said he would have to give this info the the service manager and that I would be getting a call within 2 days. Four days passed and still no call from the LG service manager must be a really busy guy. In frustration I had to call my cc company and open a dispute with LG to try and get a refund for the diagnostic fee. Again love the washer.... but if this is how they deal with customer service my next washer will NOT be an LG.

Multiple washing cycles allows for washung several different fabrics. Tired of paying laundromats to.clean my comforters the load capacity is what sold me. This top loading unit is pretty sleek looking and is quiet when compared to other units. Cleans the clothes very well. On occasion there is a residue that resembles lint that will collect on my dark load which causes me to run it through the rinse cycle again. That would be the only negative Ive experienced.
