Disappointing

We bought this dishwasher 2 years ago. Almost immediately it stopped drying the dishes and then soon after it stopped cleaning them. I’ve had several repairmen look at it and spent lots of money trying to get it working. I’ve tried different settings and tried cleaning all the parts. Recently It’s developed a disgusting smell inside even after the clean cycle. And a greasy film all over the inside that is now all over my dishes. It’s incredible but my dishes come out dirtier than when they entered, which is something because we always rinse before loading. I’ll never buy KitchenAid again.

Pros: gets dishes clean, drys them (one of the few with heat dry). Cons: Takes hours to run a normal cycle. Buttons don't work well. Also - the motor has broken after only a year of use. I thought we'd be OK to not get the extended warranty - after all, it's supposed to be a premium brand...but almost to the minute after the one year expired, the pump broke. We rarely wash full/heavily soiled loads, so there's no reason for this to happen. What a huge disappointment.

Redid kitchen bought dishwasher a month ago finally got it hooked up couple of days ago used it for the first time yesterday so quiet didn't even know it was on. Haven't used all of the features yet

We bought the EDFE204ESS1 model in January 2016. By mid 2017, the motor broke. We have also experienced a disgusting stinky, sewage-like smell emanating from the dishwasher post-cleaning cycle despite cleaning every single crevice, hole, filter etc. multiple times. I've cleaned the hose that runs from dishwasher to sink, but didn't make a difference. We've run it through with Affresh and still there is a stink.The top rack often doesn't get cleaned properly despite using the hot wash cycle. I almost always have to handwash numerous items from the top shelf and sometimes the bottom shelf as the dishwasher doesn't clean the item completely (even after we've rinsed the item prior to putting it in the dishwasher). We have spent about $300 on getting the motor replaced and getting an expert out to help isolate the cause of the stink. Even he couldn't figure it out. We spent a chunk of money buying this model back in early 2016 and it's been an absolute disappointment. I would never recommend a Kitchenaid dishwasher to anyone.
