Whirlpool 5.8 Cu. Ft. Freestanding Gas Range with EZ-2-Lift Hinged Grates

I’ve been using this range for a year and a half and I’m so disappointed. I picked it for the Whirlpool name and in fact went with all Whirlpool appliances in my new home. The refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, front loading washer and dryer are excellent, The stove has several issues. I’ve had repairmen out twice and both times was told to just live with these problems. When the oven tells me it’s preheated it is NOT ready to bake. I have learned to wait at least 20 minutes more for it to get to the right temperature. The aqua clean only cleans the bottom of the oven where you put the water. The sides and door look as though nothing happened in the cleaning process and since you can’t use an oven cleaner they continue to look like they need cleaning. The two power burners in front are too hot to simmer. If I want to simmer a soup or spaghetti sauce in a big pot I have no burner to accommodate the pot size. The knobs on the stove are not chrome or stainless steel like the stove because they are crinkling and look terrible. The one thing I do like are the hinges grates on the stovetop. They make it easy the clean, but the porcelain surface has pitted. I wish I could give a better review but I’m just not able to do it.

My husband replaced all of our kitchen with 4 brand new appliances. I was thrilled. I love the convection range cooks great but two features are questionable. 1st point of contention. I'm almost 70. My husband bought me this stove because I have back pain. The self cleaning aqua feature would surely clean the oven. Heck, you would think new technology, would be better or as good the older. At my age it should have been made clear that this is not a true self cleaning oven as is known to many of us. At my age, I cannot get on my knees and clean the oven. The aqua feature is worthless to me. I would have preferred this stove with regular self cleaning . 2 nd point. The grates on top of the range are thinning and sinking in. I'm horrified this is happening to a range that was only installed 4 months ago in November. Truly disappointed in this product! As it stands I could not recommend this product unless the cast iron grating is better quality and the cleaning feature also offers true self cleaning feature.

Stove was installed on 01/01/2019, the markings on the knobs have wiped off. I only use a soft cloth and plain water to clean and now I have no indication of flame size, ok for me but it makes it difficult to instruct an inexperienced cook over the phone. The center burner is mediocre at best, doesnt spread the heat out enough.

I've had this range for 2 months and love it. The hinged grates and large window to the oven were the big selling points for this oven and they haven't disappointed. It is so easy to clean the spills by just flipping up the grates. I haven't put them in the dishwasher yet but that was a selling point also. I didn't realize how bad my old stove was until we got this one. We are very satisfied with how well the oven bakes and how fast we can boil or just simmer with the different burners. I would definitely recommend this range to all my friends and family!
