Electrolux 15'' Built-In Under-Counter Trash Compactor

Owned a year and the repairman could not fix it. Compared to others on the market this is junk. Get one that has afoot pedal and no special bags.

The overall quality of the appliance is good. The interlock actuator could be re-engineered. We have had to replace it after having the appliance for only a month. Other than that the compactor works well.

I bought this product because where I live we don't receive garbage service so it makes such a difference of storing the bags until I get to the garbage dump.

We love our suite of Electrolux appliances except for this one. Have had numerous problems and repairmen can't seem to fix it. Besides that the design of this model is unlike any compactor I have seen. No foot pedal so you have to physically open door with hands then grab drawer and slide it out. Not good when hands are full or dirty with trash! Compactor broke after about three months and repairman has replaced everything he says should fix it but still not working. Electrolux has been good so far but stay away from this model and choose professional model.

I have had this for 6 months now and have owned many other compacters before. This one is not user friendly at all. The first and biggest issue with it is that it requires TWO steps to open it. The first is that you have to open the door (using your dirty hands with trash) and the 2nd is that you have to then pull out the trash canister (again with dirty, full hands). Then you have to push it all back in with dirty hands. The 2nd issue is that opening it conflicts with the other cabinets around it. So, you can't open the drawers or doors next to the compacter because the door swings open in front of it. ALWAYS have a conflict with this! Lastly, the trash compacter bags are a special and very expensive purchase and don't even have 4 corners to tie together like less expensive over the counter bags have. If I had done my research I would have never purchased this but now I am stuck with it. I will say that it is quieter than other models I have had and it does compact fine enough but those positives don't make up for it's shortcomings. Just get something else.
