Broke just before 3 years old

The microwave worked well for almost three years (similar to another reviewer), however recently part of the clock display stopped working - which was basically cosmetic. However last week the keypad stopped working, except for the START/Add 30 sec button. I called customer service and they said that since there isn't a known manufacturing issue they cannot assist with the problem. So we must purchase a new microwave. Our first KitchenAid microwave lasted for 16 years...under three years seems far too short. We will buy a different brand to replace this one even though it will not match our other appliances.

I bought this a few years ago, and right after the warranty was up, numbers started going out on the clock. We lived with it since it was an expensive microwave, but now the 3 key isn't working. I tried to order a replacement part to fix it myself, but the replacement part I need is not for sale. I was told I would need to schedule a repair and pay someone to fix it for me or buy a new microwave. Regret this purchase so much.

Our 3 year old microwaves plastic push to open button broke and their are no replacement parts for it. Perfectly good microwave but have to throw it away because of a cheap plastic part.

Control panel stated failing after only one year!

This microwave was purchased in 2017 for a renovated business space. After just one year, the LED readout began to fail. To just have someone come look at the unit, it would cost $250.00. Because of this, since the microwave otherwise worked, we decided we could live with the faulty LED display. However, after two years and two months of use, the start function on the keypad stopped working. We believe the microwave still works, but the keypad is obviously defective. After reading the less-than stellar reviews of this item, some with the very same issue, I saw that folks were directed to an 800 number to voice their concern. However, when calling this number, the options given do not include speaking to anyone in customer service. Avoid at all costs. In my experience, most KitchenAid products do not have these sorts of issues.

As with others.. 3 years and POOF !!

I bought this KitchenAid microwave oven 3 years ago and had it installed as a replacement for a previous KitchenAid unit that lasted over 10 years. With installation, this unit cost me $800+ and I was ok with that since I thought I was buying a well designed and reliable unit. Heaven only knows what it's going to cost me to have this repaired. That cost will probably drive me to buy new and look at off-shore models with much better reliability. Initial failure was in the 7-segment clock display which I could live with for a while but, 3 days later, it stopped working all together !! I remember the days when KitchenAid was regarded as a 'high-end' product. WHAT HAPPENED to the real KitchenAid?
