Frigidaire Ac 12,000 BTU Compact Air Conditioner

Bought this unit 16 months ago and it worked well until now--seems to be low or out of coolant. Bought it at Best Buy and they say 12month warranty, while the owners manual says 24 month warranty. I contacted Frigidaire and they say 12 month unless the problem is in the sealed system . It is in the sealed system, problem is the repair company they directed me to, said it covers only the parts and the trip and labor is more than the initial cost of the unit. If you buy this make sure you get the extended warranty

I bought this unit from Lowe's last year and have been very satisfied with it. It seems to be far sturdier and better-built than many of the window air conditioner units on the market. The only issue I've had is that the "econ" mode that it defaults to when you turn it on does not cool quickly. The reason this air conditioner has its Energy Star logo is because it enters this mode by default. And, under most circumstances, the "econ" mode will cool the air, but it will take hours to get to a more comfortable level. I live in the humid midwest. I try to keep my house cool using ceiling fans, area fans and open windows. But, when it gets just too hot and sticky out, I want the A/C to cool my room quickly. When this unit is in its other modes, it does this very fast. It is remarkably quiet. Only a faint whir of fan and an unusually quiet hum from the compressor. It also has a handy remote and a nice sleep timer function. It does a great job of cooling medium-size spaces. My only issue is that in order to use it in a way that actually cools the air, I need to change settings. I would still recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality window air conditioner with one caveat: make sure to set the unit to the right mode when you need cool air NOW.

I've had this for more than a month and it has made my life considerably more comfortable in the last few heat waves we have had in Southern California.
