  In the Beginning:

Seeing a need for quality appliance repair service at a reasonable cost, Company founder Michael "Big Mike" Formisano started Michael's Appliance over 65 years ago after World War II. Mike worked long hours in a small garage next to the family home on Cottage Street in Middletown. Originally a one-man repair shop, sons Michael and Gary soon joined the fold.

The Growing Years:

While Big Mike worked those long hours, sons Michael and Gary were growing, eventually working with local retailer W.T. Grants delivering and servicing appliances. It didn't take the Formisano boys long to realize that it would be better delivering appliances that THEY sold, and so 25 years after opening up Michael's Appliance became Michael's Appliance Center, a full-scale Sales, Parts and Service business.

In 1978 son Gary took over the company. Since then, Michael's Appliance Center has moved three times, outgrowing each location, before finally settling into a purpose-built facility at 585 East Main Street on the outskirts of Middletown. Originaly sharing the building with another business, Michael's Appliance eventually grew to take over the entire 15,000 square foot building.

Present Day:

Today Gary still presides over the company, and our reputation for integrity, honesty, and service is well known throughout the area. Over the years we've developed an excellent working relationship not only with our customers but also with builders, remodelers, and kitchen designers throughout the Hudson Valley area. So whatever your plans call for, we'll be there to help you every step of the way... from planning, coordination, delivery and installation to service and support 'after the sale'. We think you'll agree that shopping at Michael's Appliance Center is truly a different experience.

Where we're going:

Michael's Appliance Center recognizes that appliances are complicated pieces of equipment today, and believes that a full service store that can help and work with their customers to maneuver the sea of 800 #’s when (not if) a problem arises is more important than ever before. We believe consumers want a choice besides the “price only mentality” of the big box stores, and feel the purchase experience at Michael’s Appliance Center should be a two way street or partnership between us and our customers to accomplish the ultimate goal. Our ever expanding presence on the web allows even greater interaction with our customers before, during and after the sale. Our goal is to offer the best products available at competitive prices and work together with our customers to assure any service issues are addressed and resolved with a team effort... Meaning the best value for our customers.
